When trying to prosper at playing Starcraft 2, there are a lot of fundamental challenges you have to overcome. These include not only building units, but building the correct units and with the right attack plan to counter your opponent's strategies. The Terran strategies that work consistently are relatively simple but need to be performed right or else they will not stand up in the battlefield! That said, here are my top strategies for Terran in Starcraft 2.
The first is the reaper rush. This amazing strategy consists of a ridiculously fast attack on your opponent using a versatile and quick unit, the reaper. This is very effective and uses your opponent's lack of advanced units in the beginning of the game to your advantage. If an opponent decides to mass zerglings, zealots or even marines, chances are you can kite his units very effectively by simply getting the speed upgrade and outmaneuvering them. This should buy you enough time to take out a good portion of his economy and overall resources.
Next Terran strategy worth learning is the banshee rush! This powerful Starcraft 2 tactic works especially well whenever you have a partner who can back you up since it exposes you to an early rush quite a bit. This is simply because in order to use this tactic, you have to be going up the tech tree early. Start by going straight for a factory and two geysers after getting a barracks, then use the factory to build tech labs so your two starports can attach to them immediately after building. Research cloak as soon as possible and get 4-8 banshees to attack his mineral line. When your opponent counters, use the cloak to surprise him and finish off his economy.
One final strategy to learn when playing Terran is the Thor rush. This strategy requires that you use micro management tactics very well on your Thor since it will become a very high priority target. This means taking quite a few SCV's and marines to keep it safe while attacking. The Thor should get the 150 mm cannon upgrade so he can break through an opponent's choke point without too much hassle. Go right into a single factory after a barracks and surround your Thor with marines and SCV's. This should surprise your opponent quite a bit if he is not prepared for the advance in tech.
The real keys to Starcraft 2 lie in the power of knowledge and counteracting the tactics your opponent is using. This means taking in what you know about him and using it against him. While these Terran strategies for Starcraft 2 will work wonders when put in the right situation, the best asset you have is the ability to out think your opponent and react to whatever he throws at you.
