Year after year there is a constant battle between the sports video games in their respective categories. Hockey, baseball, football and basketball, each of them compete for the title of the best sports game between a couple different companies. As far as basketball goes, NBA 2K11 by 2K Sports has easily taken the title for it's sport.
Speaking of graphics, they developers have finally reached the pinnacle of success that has always been hyped. There was a time when these so-called next generation game systems were first hitting the market that basketball games such as this one was used to highlight the graphical capability of the systems.
Both the Playstation and Xbox used the basketball games to showcase what they could do because the sport of basketball features multiple humans running on a court. Because of this, the speed of and fluid motions of the people moving was a way to show the power of the systems processor. Plus the ability of the systems to graphically be so superior to even show the sweat glistening off their skin.
One more factor is the graphics. The way that 2K has modeled their players this year is also very realistic. Even down to each individual player's tattoo's. They have got everything down to a science. They have every star player and even the players that people do not know too much about. They are in the game too.
The game features live statistics that connect to the Playstation Network to gain access to the real NBA scores and stats. Every time you turn the game on you can see what happened over the last few days of real NBA action. It really gives a feel of realism to the game and the player. That is just what people want in a simulation style sports game, realism.
Other advancements brought to the game are the new set of controls called Isomotion. These allow you to control the players on the court like never before. Using both analog sticks on the controller you can make the players move just like a real basketball player. Creating and chaining moves together as you move up and down the court against your opponent.
This is a winner for the critics as well. They want to see the deep stats, the TV style presentation and the game commentators that do not repeat themselves through every single game. There are a few phrases that you will here over and over, but many of them you will not hear too many times. It really gives you the feeling that you are watching a real game on TV.
With this title they really have succeeded in making a game that feels real. NBA 2K11 has hit the spot in everyone's thirst for real basketball. The only way to really get any closer to the NBA is to stand on the court at a real game. But then you could not control anyone like you can in the game.. It just would not be the same.
