Who would 10 years ago have guessed that these small plastic figures, we all know and love would become some of the most popular and successful video we play today? A lot of the popular Lego themes has been turned into various videos and some of the titles include: Toy Story,Indiana Jones, Ben 10 the awesome Lego star Wars and now finally there's a plastic version of Harry Potter too, which is just as great, if not better, than many of the previous video games.
Harry Potter will be released for all platforms - the PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS and PC - and it works much the same on them all. The subtitle is Years 1-4, which therefore means it is the stories about the Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. Travellers Tales as its called has turned into the special blend of platform and adventure games that made LEGO Star Wars and other in the series so popular.
It start with young Harry, way before he became a powerful sorcerer, back when Hagrid arrives at Harry's door to take him to the school of Hogwarts. But before our young friend can go to magic school, he must have his standard mage equipment, a magic wand.
The Lego style goes very well with JK Rowling's magical universe. The grand halls of Hogwarts school of magic seem alive and dynamic, and there is more focus on exploration than on the fighting, just like in the movies and books. You have the option to choose between several different characters and you can buy some extra as the game progresses. Just keep in mind that not everyone are able to lift the various plastic bricks. It sometimes requires the special magical formula "Wingardium Leviosa" which can make objects float. And when you are up against a mean troll in the ladies bathroom, a spell could be vital for your survival. Just remember that magic can also go wrong so it must be used wisely.
All in all Traveller's Tales is a very good game. It is mainly aimed at the children but almost as fun for the adults too. The steering is just excellent but what really pulls this game up to a whole new level is the music. Once again John Williams has outdone himself and made the perfect mood music for this game.
It should be emphasized that to get the most entertainment out of Lego Harry Potter, you must be two players, but it's also quite fun for just one person. We are already looking forward to the next version, hoping it will enchant us as much as this one did.
