Ever since the release of the sequel Fable 2 for consoles, fans of the series have wondered if there will ever be a PC version of the game. But it has been many years since the sequel's release and there is still no PC port of the game.
The first Fable game was originally released on the console platform as well. It was so successful that the original developer decided to port the game over to the PC. They did and enjoyed a commercial success for the game in both markets.
The third game in the series, Fable 3, was released in 2010. It was announced prior to the release of the game that the PC version of it would be released in 2011. This both excited fans but also raised questions about the sequel and its own PC version.
To this date, Fable 2 does not have a PC version. Lionhead Studios stated in 2009 that the sequel was so successful that they would have to create a PC port. But a member of the development team stated that same year that there was no plan to do such.
Fable isn't the first game series to abandon a platform mid-series. The Gears of War series created their first game for both the PC and gaming consoles. But when they released the sequel for the game, Gears of War 2, they did not release a PC version of the game.
If the developer hasn't created a computer version of Fable 2 by now, then it may never happen. They've already created the third game in the series and it would make sense if they moved on to the fourth game in the series, rather than moving backwards.
There are online forums that claim there is a fan-made version of the sequel for the PC. But after searching for quite a while, most fans have determined that this is, in fact, not the case. There is no evidence to support the claim that there is a stable, fan-made, Fable 2 PC version.
It is best for both the developer and fans that we see a Fable 4. Rather than looking backwards and trying to get the last piece to the sequel completed, it is better for the game series as a whole to move forward. Plus, there is always the option for PC players to get a console and experience the sequel there.
