If you see the red ring of death. Go check the xbox 360 power supply light, There are three colors for it:

1. A green light should appear on the xbox 360 power supply

If you see the green light, this means that your xbox 360 power supply have no problems. And the problem is with your xbox 360 console itself. In this case you need to contact the xbox 360 customer support to have your console replaced. You might want to try to replace it with your retailer but most retailer won't do it unless you are in the first month of your guarantee. Just give it a try because it might be faster than shipping the console to microsoft to get it repaired or replaced.

2. An orange or yellow light on your xbox 360 power supply.

In normal conditions and when the xbox 360 power supply is on standby mode, its light is orange. So the problem isn't with your xbox 360 console. But the problem is with the xbox 360 power supply who can't supply the console with power.

Unplug all the power cords from the wall outlet and unplug from the power supply from the xbox 360 console. Then wait for a few minutes the reconnect it all back again as it were. If the lights are still the same, then you definitely have a faulty xbox 360 power supply.

In this case you must get in touch with xbox 360 customer support to have your power supply fulfilled.

3. The power supply light is red.

This maybe due to something wrong with the power supply connection, try unplugging everything like the previous step then wait for 2 or 3 minutes and reconnect everything back. Also try another wall outlet without an extension cord.

If the red light still appears, then it is definitely a problem with the xbox 360 power supply. To have it fixed contact the xbox 360 customer support.

4. Xbox 360 power supply light is not illuminating at all.

Most of the times this is because the power supply isn't connected to any power source. Also double check the power cord for any faults or disconnections.

Unplug everything like previous steps and wait for a few minutes, then connect it all back again. You might want to try another wall outlet without an extension cord.
